OUR
HISTORY
More than forty years ago, Zaban Paradies Center was born out of the compassion and vision of The Temple, a Jewish congregation in Atlanta devoted to caring for the broader community. In the winter of 1984–1985, record-breaking cold weather exposed the urgent need not only for shelter, but shelter for couples. While other organizations carried out efforts for one gender or the other, The Temple opened its doors to those with nowhere else to go. What began as an act of faith and neighborly love evolved into a dedicated organization committed to helping individuals and couples experiencing homelessness build stability and independence. Today, while Zaban Paradies Center operates as its own nonprofit, it continues to honor its roots and partnership with The Temple—carrying forward a legacy of dignity, hope, and community.
